Practical Ways To Feel Closer To God

It’s not the first time our world has faced an pandemic such as Coronavirus, but it’s probably the first time you are experiencing living through it! It seems as though the world has been flipped upside down overnight. Many people are losing their jobs, losing their health, and even losing their hope, which inevitably leads to fear, uncertainty, and anxiety. All these emotions are very real and very understandable, but we can’t rest there! We must push forward. We must find joy in the midst of fear. We must find hope in the midst of uncertainty. We must find peace in the midst of anxiety. Life is still moving forward and we have the choice each day between hope and fear. What are you choosing?

I reached out to my Instagram family with the question, “What helps you feel close to God right now?”, and you guys delivered! This list is made up of all your amazing responses!

  • Morning coffee/tea + the Bible.

  • Spending time outside.

  • Writing out scripture.

  • Listening to worship music.

  • Praying.

  • Watching the stars at night.

  • Journaling.

  • Gratitude practices.

  • Zoom calls with family and friends.

  • Spending time being quiet.

  • Listening to encouraging podcasts and sermons.

  • Echo bike repeats (yes, you read that right!).

  • Listening to the birds chirping and the breeze blowing.

  • Reminding yourself of God’s promises.

  • Going on a walk.

  • Watercolor painting.

  • Writing your thoughts as prayers.

  • Working out.

  • Letting the sun hit your face.

I hope these ideas bring you some hope, joy, and peace during this season. Give them a go and let me know if it helps!! Instead of being in a season of waiting, be in a season of BELIEVING!
